Special Notes: Agatized coral is often referred to as Petoskey stone or agate. Fossils form when an organism is rapidly covered by silt . The soft tissue dissolves, leaving the skeleton or shells to be reaplced by other minerals as successive layers of sediment accumulate and are turned to rock.
